The 2009 Black Saturday bushfires decimated great swathes of Victoria’s wet schlerophyll forests near Marysville and the likes, along with claiming many human lives. Here, five years on, on March 14, Don shows the growth since the fires in this Dicksonia Antarctica (soft tree fern) which amazingly survived. Some areas were absolutely obliterated while some were only mildly affected. Different species of plants and animals have coped in a variety of ways. (at cambarville)
